Maol chinn-dearg can be climbed rapidly from the A87 by following a stalkers' path up onto the Druim Coire nan Eirecheanach ridge. The similar Druim Thollaidh ridge of the adjacent Top, Sgurr Coire na Feinne, could be used for the descent.
