The route above can be varied with an excellent alternative by tackling the NE ridge to Sgòrr Bhan - with some scrambling - before continuing along the ridge to Sgòrr Dhearg and on to Sgòrr Dhònuill. It is possible to descend from further west around the ridge rather than returning to the bealach, but such routes are exceptionally steep and require care and greater experience.
