Sgùrr Fhuaran is the central and highest peak of the renowned Five Sisters of Kintail. A perfect cone, its west ridge is perhaps the longest continuous ascent route in Scotland - but usually Sgùrr Fhuaran is approached over its neighbours.

If not completing the classic ridgewalk given above, it is possible to ascend and / or descent the west ridge of Sgùrr Fhuaran. The going is straightforward but punishingly steep for almost 1000m in height. An alternative is the east ridge from Gleann Lichd house; this narrow ridge looks very tempting from afar but the more remote start means it sees few people.

The traverse of the Five Sisters is a long and demanding walk in its own right; the super-fit may attempt to extend it by also including the three further Munros of the Brothers ridge, and perhaps even Ciste Dhubh as well.
