Dan Cadle, the Recreation Forester in the area, said, “Over the last month we have had repeated dumping of fly tipped material in our Tyrebagger car park – in total about 6 tipper loads of house-hold and building trade waste.
“We have reported it to Police Scotland and they are already following up on leads, and we are also passing them CCTV camera pictures of dumpers at the site.
“Every time that we go in to clean this up it takes our staff away from more positive works, such as trail building but is also costs up to £500 – money that we should be spending elsewhere to help improve the forest experience for visitors.
“We can’t afford that sort of clean up cost and unless this antisocial behaviour is stopped we might have to think about closing the car park.”
The Aberdeenshire team is asking anyone who sees waste being dumped at Tyrebagger – or anywhere else – to report it to the police via the 101 number and to also call dumb dumpers on 0845 2304090.
As well as the walk through Kirkhill Forest and Tyrebagger Hill there is also the Tyrebagger Sculpture and Elrick Hill walk nearby.
