Edinburgh University Mountaineering Club (EUMC) has put out an urgent appeal for donations to repair Glen Licht House. The hut, which is nestled among the Five Sisters of Kintail, is normally available to individuals and clubs by advance booking.

Unfortunately, Glen Licht House’s roof was badly damaged in a storm last winter and the building is now falling apart. The EUMC is looking to raise both awareness of the issue and money to help repair it. The Club says that as well as essential structural repairs, they will also be able to improve the house’s interior with a better stove, improved water supply, toilet and bed platforms. This will ensure that the hut has a stable future and that it is a great resource for anyone who wishes to hillwalk in the area.

The EUMC says that Glen Licht House is a valuable resource for anyone looking to climb the Five Sisters or Three Brothers or walk through to Glen Affric and Strawberry Cottage. The Club says that although it does charge for the hut’s use, in the past this has cost only £5 a night, which is cheaper than most campsites.

For more information about the appeal or to donate see the EUMC’s Justgiving page.
