Festival organisers say, “This is your chance to get out and about in some of Central Scotland's best settings: the Campsie Fells; the Kilpatrick Hills and the Trossachs and all the bits in between.
“The Great Outdoors Festival offers walking, running and paddling and is a great way to explore the countryside. Experienced leaders guide all of the Festival’s events so there is no need to worry about getting lost. Our leaders are knowledgeable in local history and wildlife and will be glad to highlight the many points of interest along the routes.
“This year we have a focus on exploring our local cultural heritage by retracing the steps of our ancestors on the Take the Highroad Walk, Solve the Mystery of the Stones and the Antonine Wall Wander. Whinny Hill Tour and The Craigs Circular walk which will be an insight into how we manage the land now and both offer some spectacular views.
“We will also be doing our bit to get you closer to nature on our themed walks. Join in on a bat walk, tree walk, fungi foray or learn about healing herbs.
“We will be having a look at geology and wildlife on an old family favourite with spectacular views of Loch Lomond on a ‘Daunder up the Dumpling’ and this year we are also introducing our guided walks on wheels with ‘A Scoot Around Balloch'”
