Cowal walking festival open for bookings

Cowal’s walking festival is back for 2018. Based in Dunoon on the Firth of Clyde, this year’s festival will run from Friday 5th to Friday 12th October inclusive with a varied range of carefully graded guided walks to suit all ages, interests and ability. There is also a charity walk this year in aid of Ollie’s Wee Bothy, a charity providing holidays for families who’ve suffered the death of a child.

CowalFest organisers say that fourteen new walks are included alongside old favourites and transport is provided if necessary. The walk leaders and organisers are all volunteers who are keen for others to enjoy the magnificence of the Cowal Peninsula in Argyll.

Social walks are a new feature this year, allowing for good walking coupled with a rest at an appropriate refreshment stop. Walks of special interest include geology, bird watching, photography, meditation. Heritage walks also feature as do more strenuous all day treks. Evening activities include music and also a quiz night. Walks can be booked at the CowalFest website.

If you can’t make it to the festival there are plenty of walks in Cowal which can be enjoyed all year round as well as the Cowal Way, a 90km long distance route through stunning Scottish west coast scenery.
