Part of the preparations will include some felling work, which will take place over the winter, and site signage will soon be in place to remind people to keep out for their own safety.
Hamish Murray, for the Commission’s team in Tay, said: “This is the start of the effort to refurbish the Visitor Centre so all things are go – but it’s important that people observe the warning signs and steer clear of the site.
“We won’t be felling all the time, and we might not be on site all the time, but the site will still be hazardous – and we don’t want anyone to get hurt – or any vehicles to get damaged. People should remember that signage is there for their own benefit.”
An information evening will be held in Pitlochry’s Fisher’s Hotel on Monday 21 January (7 – 9pm) and anyone interested in learning more about the refurbishment and the work involved, will be welcome to attend.
Although the Queen’s View site will be completely closed in February and March 2013, visitors can still get out and about in the area and enjoy a spectacular view by travelling a little further along the road to Allean Forest Trail.
Hamish added: “The viewpoint from the car park doesn’t quite match the Queen’s View, but it is certainly a stunning spot, so why not visit Aillean instead and discover this often over-looked forest. It’s well worth it!”
