The latest monthly prize for the best trip report on Walkhighlands has been awarded for a heartfelt account of the gruelling Scottish coast to coast TGO Challenge.

The walker’s website received well over a hundred walk reports in June ranging from amusing tales of short family outings to epic backpacks. A surprise were two great reports from Conachair on St Kilda coming in in quick succession!

The monthly competition is sponsored by online gear retailer, Webtogs, and £30 of Webtogs vouchers were awarded to runner-up Ray MacKay for the sheer enthusiasm in his account of his first trip into the Cairngorms – and his first Munro, Braeriach. However the winner and £60 of Webtogs gear was awarded to MountainStar for his “warts and all” account of his TGO Challenge crossing.

The latest round of monthly prizes comes as the trip report element of the Walkhighlands website has been revamped. As Paul Webster of Walkhighlands explains, “If you’ve ever wanted to find a great user trip report for a certain hill on Walkhighlands, it’s just got easier. We’ve launched a new feature so that you can mark any trip report as being a Great Report – just click on the thumbs up. The reports with the most votes are now shown at the top on the hill pages and listed first on walk descriptions…. so if time is short you can quickly find the best user reports for that hill or walk you are about to tackle – or see the best photos of the views you’ve missed if you’ve just come back from a day in the rain and clag!.”
