Walkhighlands is delighted to welcome Phil Turner as its Gear Editor. Phil is an outdoor enthusiast and writer and has already written a great many routes for Walkhighlands; he’s also an expert on lightweight backpacking and camping with a seemingly unquenchable thirst for trying new outdoors gear.

Phil spends as much time as possible walking in Scotland and will be rigorously testing a wide range of gear to provide up to the minute comparison reviews on Walkhighlands over the coming months. Phil is also author of numerous magazine articles as well as his popular blog Lightweight Outdoors, and is currently working on several walking guidebooks.

Walkhighlands co-founder Paul Webster said, “We’re delighted to have Phil on board as our new Gear Editor, he never fails to amaze us with his knowledge of outdoor gear and sheer enthusiasm for getting out there. About 9,000 people use Walkhighlands every day, mainly to find routes and places to stay, and they’ve been asking us for gear reviews for some time. Phil will be taking a monthly look at outdoor gear relevant to the coming season and Walkhighlands’ users will be able to add their own comments on the lively forum.”

The schedule for reviews for the next six months is currently available to gear companies and PR agencies who can contact Phil via email to express an interest.
