This newly restored hostel is in the blackhouse village of Gearrannan, Carloway, Isle of Lewis. It accommodates 10, plus a family room for 3, and offers bunkbeds, showers and a fully fitted modern kitchen. Traditional stone and thatch on the outside but modern and cosy inside. An ideal base for coastal and moorland walks.

John's Bunkhouse Berneray built in 2018 is right at the heart of the Hebridean Way.This low energy building is built in the Hebridean 'blackhouse style' It is traditional outside and has a modern,functional interior. It has 3 bunk rooms, 2 shower rooms, a well equipped,cosy, kitchen-living room, a bike shed,drying room and underfloor heating. Situated by a tidal beach it is a 10 minute walk from the ferry to Harris, the causeway to North Uist and the local shop and new bistro. See website for contact details.
