The Gleanndal Hostel is where mountain meets sea in the tiny village of North Glendale on the rugged eastern coast of South Uist. The Hostel is on the shore of Loch Boisdale, a sea loch so you will have great opportunity for a bit of seal and otter spotting, this whole area is abundant in wildlife.
The Hostel building is a recently renovated Blackhouse, the traditional Hebridean stone cottage. It offers 6 bunks (all bedding supplied), a well-equipped self-catering kitchen, wifi internet, a shower and is heated by a peat-fuelled stove. There is also a camping area with amenities including toilet, shower, washing machine and use of Hostel kitchen.
This newly restored hostel is in the blackhouse village of Gearrannan, Carloway, Isle of Lewis. It accommodates 10, plus a family room for 3, and offers bunkbeds, showers and a fully fitted modern kitchen. Traditional stone and thatch on the outside but modern and cosy inside. An ideal base for coastal and moorland walks.
