Climb steeply through regenerating native woodland above North Sannox to reach a trig point with superb views over both the sea and Arran's granite mountains.

The walk begins from the car park and picnic area at North Sannox - a really beautiful spot on the coastline with superb views into the mountains. If using public transport, you can reach it by following the walk from Sannox.
The walk heads from the back of the parking area through a forestry gate into native woodland. This area was once a conifer plantation, but following felling is now regenerating beautifully with native trees. The path was once a formal forestry trail; it is no longer signed but still clear to follow on the ground. It passes a seat, and further on it forks - take the right, uphill fork here. The path continues up to reach a picnic table with views across to the magnificent mountains around the Sannox Horseshoe.
Continue up the path, with ever improving views looking back down to North Sannox and the coast.
The path has a couple of boggier sections, and becomes more overgrown once higher up - especially where it passes between some younger conifers. The white post seen is part of a measured mile used for calculating the speed of ships in the Firth of Clyde.
Eventually the path rises through bracken to reach a whitewashed trig point atop a rocky outcrop. The views from this point are a just reward for the effort of the ascent.
Retrace your steps back down to the start.
