This short out-and-back walk along the coast to North Sannox has a sandy beach, a dramatic rock wall, a beautiful picnic spot and superb views to the mountains. It also can provide an easy link to further walks on this section of the Arran coastline.

The walk starts from the car park in Sannox on the right side of the A841, which is in two parts on either side of the river. The walk begins from the northern end of the car park where there is a 'North Sannox' footpath sign. It leads almost immediately across a large set of stepping stones - they are concrete and flat surfaced.
On the far side turn right; the path gives views of the village across the river before emerging at a fine sandy beach. Turn left here along the back of the beach, passing a couple of houses (on your left) as the path continues past a tall mast which aids shipping in the Firth - part of a series which comprise a measured mile.
The path leaves the shore and curves left to head a little inland, passing beneath a dramatic cliff before coming closer to the coast once again, now with views that includes the Isle of Bute. Continue along the path until the North Sannox Burn, then follow this inland through the woods until a surfaced road is reached.
You could make the walk a circuit from here by returning on the road, but the section on the A841 is busy. Instead, turn right to visit the beautiful picnic area down by the shore at the road end. There are great views to Arran's mountains inland as well.
After enjoying this spot, the best option is to retrace your steps all the way. If looking for a longer walk you could continue from here as a through walk to Lochranza on the Cock of Arran Walk, or walk to a viewpoint on the north side of the bay, or visit the Fallen Rocks - before heading back to Sannox.
