The Glenborrodale RPSB reserve includes some of the remnant oakwoods on the fringes of Loch Sunart. This route climbs up through the woods - with a chance to see redstarts, spotted flycatchers and many other birds; there are several interpretative boards along the way.

Park in the dedicated RSPB Glenborrodale Reserve car park, a short distance west of the impressive Glenborrodale Castle (private). Begin the walk by returning to the road, turning right along it and then almost immediately right again onto a well-made signed path climbing up amidst the mighty oak trees.
The path continues to gradually climb. There are occasional yellow waymarker posts, with the trees thinning and being replaced by birches as height is gained.
The path eventually crosses a more open, grassy area, accompanied by telegraph poles for some distance. There are views out to Loch Sunart, though fairly restricted. Ignore a path branching left and continue ahead.
Eventually the path begins to descend and crosses a wooden boardwalk. It passes a small sluice gate and then runs above a rocky gorge. When a path junction is reached with a wooden sign, turn left.
The path descends quickly to the road. Turn left along it to return to the start - taking care with any traffic. Along the shore you may spot seals, herons or - if you are lucky - an otter.
