An Gearanach is a magnificent ridge extending north from the main spine of the Mamores. The summit and intervening ridge is a narrow arete reminiscent of that between Càrn Mòr Dearg and Ben Nevis.

The hill could be climbed on its own from Glen Nevis as described, but returning the same way for a short day.

The classic epic challenge for the hyper-fit is to traverse the whole Mamores ridge in a day - a major undertaking. The route can include up to 10 Munros, and An Gearanach is included by a detour along the airy An Garbhanach arete.
