Do you know of a hill path in need of repair?
Scottish Natural Heritage (SNH) is seeking the views of hillwalkers about the current state of paths and routes in order to determine how much money will be needed to undertake the longterm care of upland paths. The results of this new audit will build on a recent user survey which gathered views about the condition of Scotland’s upland paths and how they could be managed in the future.
This audit is focussing on those paths and routes most damaged or in need of urgent repair. The information is needed by Wednesday, the 21st February. Hillwalkers are invited to input their information at this website.
There is a list of existing paths that have been added, along with a map showing their locations. You can add new paths to the list or provide additional information about the paths that are already on it. The audit organisers say, “You might not have all the information to hand but please don’t let that put you off – if you can use the form to at least add the path name and location we can then start asking around and scouring the web for more information. If you have photos of the path condition, great, but don’t get hung up on that.”
“We are using a simple ‘registration’ system on the site to help avoid too much spam – you will only be asked for your name and email address when you register, and this will not be passed to any third party or shown on the website. You need to register to be able to comment on paths already on the list, but not to add new ones (although it saves you typing your name each time if you do register).”
