Peter Macfarlane

We’re delighted to welcome Peter Macfarlane to Walkhighlands as our new gear editor. Peter is a freelance outdoor writer and photographer and will be familiar to many as a regular contributor to Trail Magazine. His work has also appeared in other magazines and he has covered outdoor topics on both TV and radio. Peter is usually found out in the Scottish mountains where he’s gained his experience of equipment testing and found a preference for simplicity and light weight. He is also known through his blogging – and forum appearances – as PTC*. His first review will be published early next month, and he’s started work on a new series of comparison reviews which will begin in September.

We’d like to thank our outgoing gear editor Phil Turner for all his great work on Walkhighlands. Phil has shared his expertise over the last few years by writing our gear reviews, as well as being the author of our guides to walks in Ayrshire, on the Isle of Arran and covering various long distance routes. We’re sure that all users of the site would join us in wishing Phil all the very best for the future and the challenge of his new career.
