Xmas offer from the MCofS

The Mountaineering Council of Scotland (MCofS) has reminded us that some people have already started their Christmas shopping. Even if you're not that organized, the MCofS is again offering its discounted Gift of Membership and it seems like a great deal all round.

As well as buying a year’s membership of the MCofS at a special offer price, you get to choose a free gift for the recipient, and the MCofS send you a copy of the November issue of Scottish Mountaineer magazine and a Gift of Membership card. So, you will have a bundle of goodies to hand over on Christmas morning.

MCofS Chief Officer David Gibson said: “The MCofS works tirelessly to represent the interests of hill walkers – defending access rights, protecting mountain landscapes from inappropriate developments, and providing safety training for members with the aim of reducing accidents in the mountains.

“The Gift of Membership supports our vital work; it could last a lifetime – not just for Christmas – and has a very low carbon footprint because you can organise it from your computer!”

MCofS Membership Development Officer Mike Dales said: “As well as supporting our work, membership comes with a wide range of benefits such as a members’ discount scheme, complimentary liability insurance for on-the-hill activities, and five editions of the MCofS quarterly magazine Scottish Mountaineer.”

MCofS President, Brian Linnington said, “The MCofS is working hard to represent the interests of those who enjoy Scotland’s mountains and we need to grow our membership to help fund our work in areas such as landscape and access. You can help our work by giving MCofS membership to your friends and family. It’s easily ordered from your computer and at £19.50 for a year’s full adult membership our ‘Gift of Membership’ is great value.

“It includes: a free gift worth up to £25; a gift card which you can personalise; a membership card that entitles the bearer to discounts at many outdoor retailers; which, together with 5 copies of Scottish Mountaineer, our members-only magazine, means that your gift will be valued throughout the year. There are also special membership prices for under-18s, concessions, couples and families.

“You have my assurance that your gift will help our work.”
