This quiet walk climbs Dun Hill which rises to the south of Aberfeldy, which was the site of a small hillfort. There are stunning views both from the lane on the way up and from the summit.

The walk begins off the A826 Crieff Road that leads south out of Aberfeldy; the most convenient parking is the Birks o' Aberfeldy car park. Head back to the road from the car park and turn right along it, crossing the bridge over the Moness Burn. The road bends right; follow it for 200m, passing Moness resort, until it bends left again - there is no pavement so care is needed.
When the road bends left leave it and follow the lane straight ahead - with a signpost for 'Path to the Dun'. Follow the lane uphill, passing some chalets. When the lane forks a right branch leads to a big house - continue ahead here on the narrowing lane.
Pass through a gateway and continue uphill. The lane is a delight and the views back become superb as height is gained. Keep ahead until a signpost for 'Path to the Dun' indicates a grassy track off left - take this.
The track climbs through native trees and then passes a stone building in a grassy clearing, with great views over Aberfeldy. From here the grass track curves right and eventually meets the forestry plantations at a large gate. Pass through and continue through the now dense trees.
As the track peters out a waymarker indicates where to turn left to continue on a path up through the trees. This skirts an open area with a line of pylons before curving left into the trees once more. Finally, it emerges on the open grassy summit of the Dun. The remains of the fort can be made out, together with a cairn.
The return walk is by retracting your steps back to Aberfeldy, with those lovely views to enjoy along the way.
