This popular walk heads out from the end of the Rhu road to visit a secluded and sheltered sandy beach, with great views to the Small Isles along the way.

There is parking at the end of the minor road along the Rhu peninsula, by a boathouse. There is room for several cars here, but take care not to block the track or prevent vehicles from turning. Begin the walk by heading through the gate onto the stony track. Almost immediately great views open up towards the Isle of Eigg.
After passing through a cutting the track leads on to another gate; continue ahead as the route eventually swings inland. Soon a fork is reached - stay on the main track, ignoring the branch to the right. Further on the track forks again - this time the route keeps right (the left branch is in to a private garden). After a short ascent a cattle grid and gate mark the garden of Rhu House ahead. Do not cross the cattle grid, instead leaving the track and turning left, passing the shed. The path then heads through a gate and continues a wooded course on the lower side of the fence.
The path curves right by a wall and then turns left to head through another gate. After a grassy section there are a couple of muddy patches as the path eventually bears left before a final rocky descent to a bay. There are two sandy beaches here either, backed by short-cropped grassy machair; the beaches face south and so are often sheltered from the winds.
