Scaling a Kashmiri peak 45 years ago and literally walking all the way around Edinburgh

August turned out to offer plenty of Scottish walking opportunities with loads of great reports hitting the Walkhighlands forum. Every month, two winning Walk Reports are chosen, with the winner taking £100 of vouchers to spend at Highlander, with £50 of vouchers to the runner up, and this month’s winners are a bit different. August’s winner is Chris Henshall’s fascinating account of scaling a peak in Kashmir 45 years ago with not much prep except youth, enthusiasm and a few dodgy fashion choices. Enjoy the adventure yourself – Kashmir – Tulian Peak (4,834m / 15,860ft).

The £50 runner up prize goes sztupy for Walking around Edinburgh, literally – does exactly what it says on the tin but surprises with such variety of scenery and wildlife and the judges liked the slightly crazy challenge and the reminder that there are adventures to be had right on our doorsteps.

To be in with a chance of winning a prize in September just post a walk report in the Walkhighlands forum.
