A short, pathless walk around the end of the Uiginish peninsula visiting a small lighthouse and ruined broch. Excellent views of Loch Dunvegan and a good place to watch for otters and seals.
Muddy farm track, pathless boggy ground in places. Road to start is in very poor repair. Grazing livestock - not suitable for dogs.

Take the potholed minor road off the Glendale B884 signed for Uiginish. There is limited parking on the left of the road shortly before the road ends at Uiginish farm. Take care not to block tracks or turning areas. Start the walk by heading straight ahead between the barn on the left and bungalow on the right to follow the grassy track past the grand white farmhouse. Keep on the track as it bears left and eventually reaches the corner of a fence and 2 gates. Go through (or over if locked) the left hand of the two gates and immediately bear right to head over pathless ground keeping the low rocky knoll just to your left.
Now head just to the left of the large square-topped and gorse-covered rocky crag ahead. Keep left of this and follow the grassy dip down towards the sea ahead. Once at the bottom of the slope turn right to head along a vague coastal path, through bracken at first, until the lighthouse at Uiginish Point comes into view. Head to this modern lighthouse from where are superb views over to Dunvegan Castle on the right, and out across a wide expanse of the sea. Seals can often be seen swimming in this area.
From the lighthouse head back along the coast the way you have just come and then continue to a small bay. This area is a good place to watch for otters, lookout for the tell-tale remains of sea urchins and crabs near the shore as well as the bright green mounds topped with otter spraint. The continuation along the coast is initially blocked by a low cliff, and it is necessary to head inland a few hundred metres to round the end of this cliff and ascend back to the coast beyond. Continue along the top of the low coastal cliffs, on boggy pathless ground, to the next bay at Ob Dubh.
Turn left inland here beside a fence and head gently uphill. Soon a track is picked up, continue along this keeping Beinn a Ghuail to your left. After 0.5km, when the track turns left, it is worth a short detour to the top of the small rocky hillock on the left. On the summit are the crumbling remains of Dùn Totaig, a broch; the outline of the walls and entrance can easily be seen and Macleod's Tables can be seen in the distance.
Return to the track. Go through a gate and bear left to return downhill to Uiginish Farm. Go through the gate to the left of the barn and turn right to return to the start.
