The North Coast Trail

The North Coast Trail is a proposed walking route along the north coast of Scotland, from John o' Groats to Cape Wrath. It is being developed by a charity, the Association of Northern Trails Scotland, who created and manage the John o' Groats Trail from Inverness to John o'Groats. They have a GoFundMe page to raise money for the routes.

The route is currently in the early stages of being developed on the ground, but Trail Development Manager Laura Gray is posting trip reports for the first draft of the proposed route. These reports will be linked from this page as they are added.

We hope to feature the route on Walkhighlands once it is open and complete.

THE CHALLENGE

The route is in the early stages of development.

Walking can be dangerous and all walkers must take personal responsibility for their own safety. You should always carry a backup means of navigation and not rely on a single phone, app or map.
